President Rajapaksa has said that the Ven. Henpitigedara Gnanaseeha
Thera was a strength in the founding of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. The
President was speaking at a ceremony organized to mark the 30th
commemoration of the Adhikarana Sanghanayake of the Sri Lanka Ramanna
Nikaya, the Ven. Henpitigedara Gnanaseeha Thera. He was always a
strength in the resolution of problems of the people. He was a prelate
who took the lead on behalf of the oppressed. The President referred to
the yeoman services rendered by the Thera.
The unveiling of the
Pinnacle built at the Mudduwa Sumana Maha Pirivena in Ratnapura on
behalf of the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jayanthi took place under the
President's patronage. Thereafter he joined in the opening of the Museum
built in memory of the Ven. Gnanaseeha Thera. Members of the Maha
Sangha including the Anunayake of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Nikaya the Ven.
Hapuwalane Sirisaranankara Thera and many Parliamentarians were among
the large gathering present.
